The three militants killed after they attacked IDF forces

During an arrest operation Wednesday night, Israel Defense Forces soldiers were attacked by armed members of the Islamic Jihad, along with other organizations, resulting in three terrorists as recognized by Israel's federal security service 'Shin Bet', being killed.

The Israeli โ€œMaarivโ€ newspaper, along with their military commentator Tal Lev-Ram, revealed more details about the intense gunfight that took place during a Thursday morning radio show. "This was a proactive activity during which an exchange of fire developed, and three Palestinian militants were killed," he noted. "At the same time, the two wanted men looked for were arrested within about an hour, and about ten wounded were have also been recorded."

When asked about the organization behind the armed men, Lev-Ram said: "My calculations say one of them was an Islamic Jihad operative, a complex terrorist, who was involved in the planning and execution of a significant attack that failed in the Menasha area. Jihad is very dominant in the general terrorist activity in Jenin when the terrorists usually operate in Jenin under one brigade. Occasionally it is a single squad that carries out a shooting or an attack and there will be several affiliated groups involved."

The latest combative operation in Jenin is linked to the same security escalation in the area that began over 4 months ago and has yet to be dealt with by the Palestinian Authority as agreed upon. IDF forces have been operating almost daily in Jenin, Nablus, and the surrounding villages in order to contain the rapid growth of Jihadists along with the PAโ€™s slow loss of significance in those areas.

Lev-Ram added: "We are in a continuous wave of escalation, and even before the event in question, in the last seventeen days there has been a significant increase in shooting attacks. In fact, only in the last 36 hours saw three shooting attacks and also the killing of a terrorist who shot into Ofra."

Unfortunately, due to a persistent decline in governance within PA-controlled areas, IDF officials are convinced that the situation will only continue to deteriorate.  Current military action by Israel only helps to contain the threat but is not thorough enough to stop the entire issue.

The commentator stressed that "There is no miracle solution here, more than that, when you see all the indicators, all the data as a trend, you recognize something that will continue for many months, these are the estimates. We see the expression of this on the ground."
