During the Sabbath, the brother of the 6-year-old who died in Friday's Jerusalem terror attack succumbed to his wounds. Asher Menachem Palay, 8, was mortally wounded in an attack in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem. He was taken to Shaari Zedek hospital in Jerusalem where he passed away less than a day later. His little brother Yaakov Yisrael was buried in Jerusalem within hours of his death as is the custom in the capital city. His funeral was held just before the Sabbath began.

Shaarei Zedek reported that the boy arrived in critical condition and was transferred immediately to trauma care. After numerous CPR attempts, and many teams from the trauma unit, emergency room, pediatric intensive care, surgery, and pediatric neurosurgery working to save his life, the boy was declared dead.

Asher and Yaakov's father, Avraham, is still hospitalized at Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital and his condition is classified as stable. Another brother, 10-year-old Moishi, was slightly injured in the car-ramming attack and was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, and has since been released to his home.

Alter Shlomo Lederman, a Pinsk-Karlin Hasidic Jew who was about twenty years old and recently married over the summer was also murdered in the attack. The funeral of the 8-year-old took place in Jerusalem at 10:00 after the end of the Sabbath, he was buried next to his brother Yaakov. The funeral of Alter Shlomo Lederman was also in Jerusalem on Saturday night, with the religious ceremony beginning at the Pinsk Karlin Hasidic yeshiva.

The anonymous off-duty police officer who shot and killed the terrorist told reporters, "around 1:27 p.m., I was driving my private vehicle on the Golda highway. I recognized at the bus stop on the left a number of people lying on the floor and a car at a bus stop. I understood that this was a run-over attack. I pulled out my gun, loaded it, and ran toward the car's driver. I fired one bullet in order to neutralize the terrorist.”

In assessing the situation at the scene, the commander of the Jerusalem District, Superintendent Doron Turgeman, praised the performance of the policemen involved: "The district policemen pushed for contact and neutralized the terrorist, including a policeman who was not on duty. This is a lone wolf who used his vehicle as a weapon against innocent citizens, including children. The fight against terrorism in all its shades and against terrorists wherever they are will continue, and we will use all the tools at our disposal to protect Israel's citizens."
