In an article authored by Israeli journalist Nadav Eyal and set to be fully published by Yedioth Ahronoth this coming weekend, an intriguing revelation surfaces regarding a potential agreement that Prime Minister Netanyahu himself is reportedly exploring. This agreement aims to expedite the process of dismantling the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza.

Eyal elaborates: "Within Israel and the international community, discussions are underway to expedite the downfall of Hamas in Gaza. The focus is on the possibility of the military leadership of Hamas vacating the Gaza Strip with Israel's consent, including its top brass, in exchange for their safety and the release of all abductees. This concept draws parallels with the Beirut 1982 model when Yasser Arafat relocated to Tunis following the IDF's operations during the First Lebanon War and the subsequent occupation of Lebanon's capital. This idea has gained traction in recent weeks, and it has had time to evolve."

He further notes, "It has been deliberated in various high-level and pivotal forums within Israel, often in the presence of Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has shown keen interest in the proposal. He has requested and will receive additional information on the matter."

While this proposal could potentially lead to a swift resolution of security concerns for both Israel and the Gaza Strip, it raises questions about whether such a hypothetical plan would effectively put an end to organized Palestinian terrorism against Israelis. Historical precedent reminds us that Yasser Arafat continued to orchestrate and execute terrorist activities within Israel while residing in Tunis during the First and Second Intifadas.

Meanwhile, on the ground in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have intensified their operations with a focus on eradicating the terrorist infrastructure of Hamas in Jabaliya, a refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip. Israeli forces have conducted airstrikes and ground operations resulting in substantial damage to the complex, including the destruction of tunnel shafts and terrorist structures. Numerous terrorists have been neutralized in these operations. Throughout the night, multiple skirmishes occurred, involving a significant number of terrorists and IDF troops.

During one ground operation, Nahal infantry troops encountered a terrorist squad that opened fire on them. Promptly, the soldiers and brigade fire forces coordinated an airstrike, resulting in the elimination of the terrorists. Additionally, an IDF reserve unit collaborated with aerial forces to target an anti-tank squad planning an attack, with naval forces providing cover fire.
