The protesters on the streets of Tel Aviv are back in force, and this time they are not simply calling for the resignation of a government that was lawfully elected under Israel's election and parliamentary laws; they are demanding that Israel negotiate with Hamas for the release of prisoners. While opinions may vary on the first demand, it is the second that is misguided, dangerous, and harms Israel on an international level. To understand why, it's pivotal to illuminate the multifaceted nature of the negotiations between Israel and Hamas that have been ongoing.
Addressing the Challenges of a Post-War Gaza with Blockchain-Based Smart Contracts
As Israel continues its offensive in the wake of the horrific October 7 attacks, many are asking, “What will Gaza look like after the war?” Israelis and Palestinians alike are wondering, “Who will control Gaza? Will there be a two-state solution?” and “Can Israelis and Palestinians truly ever live side-by-side again?” None of the answers, it seems, will do. Whether it’s establishing a multinational Arab-led coalition or transferring control of the Gaza Strip to a civilian government under Israeli security control, no sooner is an approach introduced into political discussions than it is immediately dismissed because of notions that it simply won’t work.
In a disconcerting revelation, it has come to light that the Biden administration's fiscal support inadvertently subsidizes groups linked with terrorism, failing to meet a fundamental standard of accountability and oversight. A report by Reuters, based on an Israeli intelligence dossier, exposed that approximately 190 employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) are allegedly affiliated with Hamas or Islamic Jihad, described by an Israeli official as "hardened fighters, killers."

“For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed.” (Isaiah 54:10) The beautiful words of the prophet Isaiah were intended to guide the first International Pro-Israel Summit organized by the Center for Fundamental Rights in Budapest this fall. But Israel's peace was brutally shattered on October 7th, 48 hours before the event. That day of infamy brought suffering, fear and pain to Israel and left people of good will in shock and dismay. The events that have unfolded since have brought some clarity. How each actor behaved in the aftermath of this brutal pogrom reveals a lot, and will determine the judgment of history.
