On Friday, February 10th, Hussien Karaqe, a resident of the Isawiyah village of East Jerusalem, purposefully ran into a busy bus stop and killed 3 young Israeli males, two of them brothers under the age of 10. The full-on propaganda machine Mondoweiss, which has been quoted by the New York Times on several occasions, confirmed it is a publication that supports terror by referring to the attack as the “Jerusalem Operation”. However, the article which focused more on the shooting of the terrorist by the police rather than the gruesome killing of 3 visibly Orthodox Jews, Mondoweiss does a complete disservice to the Palestinian people by defining such a crime, as an “operation”.

The consensus around solving a conflict and delivering lasting peace has been generally associated with left-leaning policies, such as land swaps and significant ideological compromises in the name of a utopian society. However, there have been numerous examples in recent decades where conservative values have achieved meaningful milestones, typically relying on financial cooperation and mutually beneficial endeavors rather than tearing apart one side’s agenda. This tract is most evident in Israel’s recent Abraham Accords that have delivered, what seems to be, a long-lasting sustainable relationship with many of its Arab neighbors based less on real estate and more on economic and security partnerships.

Last week, three billboards promoting the idea that antizionism is antisemitism that were put up around the UC Berkeley campus were defaced by those who claimed to represent the Jewish people.  The highway advertisements were put up in response to several of the University’s Law School’s student groups signing a letter promising to not invite speakers to events if they hold pro-Israel views.

A recent article published by the pro-terrorist news aggregator, Mondoweiss, should have anyone who cares about human life on all sides of any conflict outraged. The headline in itself is infuriating, “Contextualizing the Shooting in Neve Yaakov”, as if the murder of seven innocent unarmed people leaving a synagogue can be justified, the article attempts to do precisely that. The piece not only makes the Palestinian cause look awful but begs the question of why a respectable site that has been quoted by the New York Times on numerous occasions feels the need to defend acts of non-negotiable pure evil.

The Palestinians are getting away with a crime that goes against the very fiber of modern human decency. To date, there has been no pushback by foreign governments or mention of it in the United Nations. Instead, Israel has been blamed for an alarming rise in the deaths of Palestinian children.
