After a relatively quiet period in terms of ammunition thefts from Israel Defense Forces bases by Bedouin tribes, on Tuesday morning, commanders at the Tzalim base discovered that about 30,000 rifle rounds had been stolen from an ammunition warehouse in one of the bunkers at the base. The theft is considered an exception even by Tzalim base standards which suffer from thieves all the time, due to the amount of ammunition that was stolen.

Ahead of the convening of the special parole committee which will discuss this Tuesday afternoon requests for early release of prisoners serving life sentences; the family members of the late Motti Cohen who was killed over 20 years ago by a Palestinian terrorist, will protest outside the courthouse hearing chamber.

According to a report initially published by “Israel Hayom”, Israel’s Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir has ordered a change in the tests for obtaining a license to carry a private firearm, including that it will be possible for anyone with Israel Defense Forces combat certification, and Magen David Adom paramedic volunteers to issue a license to carry a firearm without the need for any additional screening. According to the Ministry of National Security's estimate, the new law will result in another 30,000 people carrying a legal rifle or gun. Armed civilians have been key to thwarting recent terrorist attacks in public areas.

At the UN Headquarters in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood of Jerusalem, a special ceremony was held to mark 75 years of the presence of UN observers in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, in a letter to the Foreign Minister, the chairman of the “Lach Jerusalem” organization, Maor Tzemach, mentions that the UN is operating from there in violation of the law, without paying taxes and in a manner that is serially against Israeli interest. Zemach also calls on the Foreign Minister to promote alternatives to the presence of the United Nations there, a presence that is irrelevant except for its ongoing damage to the Israeli administration in Jerusalem.

A Hamas terrorist, Maad Hamed, who escaped Palestinian Authority custody in April of last year and was captured by Israel, was sentenced by a Military Court to two life sentences for the murder of Malachi Rosenfeld in a shooting attack that happened in June 2015. He was held in custody by the Palestinian Authority from July 2015 but escaped under suspicious circumstances. He was subsequently apprehended by Israeli forces.
