Last week, three billboards promoting the idea that antizionism is antisemitism that were put up around the UC Berkeley campus were defaced by those who claimed to represent the Jewish people.  The highway advertisements were put up in response to several of the University’s Law School’s student groups signing a letter promising to not invite speakers to events if they hold pro-Israel views.

A recent article published by the pro-terrorist news aggregator, Mondoweiss, should have anyone who cares about human life on all sides of any conflict outraged. The headline in itself is infuriating, “Contextualizing the Shooting in Neve Yaakov”, as if the murder of seven innocent unarmed people leaving a synagogue can be justified, the article attempts to do precisely that. The piece not only makes the Palestinian cause look awful but begs the question of why a respectable site that has been quoted by the New York Times on numerous occasions feels the need to defend acts of non-negotiable pure evil.

The Palestinians are getting away with a crime that goes against the very fiber of modern human decency. To date, there has been no pushback by foreign governments or mention of it in the United Nations. Instead, Israel has been blamed for an alarming rise in the deaths of Palestinian children.

The sovereignty of the state of Israel was directly attacked twice over the Jewish Sabbath this weekend. The first attack, which received a lot of international media coverage, took place on Friday evening in front of a synagogue and resulted in 7 killed in cold blood. Although this attack was truly horrendous and combined so many elements, such as breaching the sanctity of a house of prayer, and killing Jews on International Holocaust Memorial Day, the second attack near the old city of Jerusalem on Saturday morning is far more alarming given that the pistol carrying terrorist was a 13-year-old boy.

Anyone familiar with the Israeli-Palestinain conflict on both sides recognizes that terrorism against Jews is a key part of the nationalistic resistance of the Palestinian cause, legitimized by the Palestinian leaders on all levels; whether they justify it or not depends on the side each individual takes. For the lone wolf terrorist who is planning out an attack on Israelis, mostly but not only Jews, the idealistic consideration may have some impact on their actions, however, it is minor and insignificant in comparison with the fiscal benefits of committing such unforgivable acts.
