The Israel Defense Forces Operation Shield and Arrow entered its fourth day, with no rockets fired at Israel since Thursday night. Nevertheless, hundreds of rockets were fired at Israel all throughout Thursday, with the last rocket launch occurring at 9:59 PM. IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Danny Hagari spoke Friday morning in regard to the deadly rocket that struck a building in Rehoboth and injured many while killing one Israeli citizen. According to the spokesman, the investigation shows that the rocket was not intercepted by the Iron Dome system because of a technical malfunction.

In a welcome turn of events, seven armed terrorists handed themselves over to the Israeli security forces Wednesday night in the town of Qabatia in Samaria. Typically, these confrontations end in bloodshed, however, given the recent success of Israel's targeted assassinations, it appears the militants thought better and surrendered instead of engaging the forces. Upon their extradition, they were transferred to the Shin Bet for investigations and are now being held by Israel.

During the previous Israeli operation in Gaza, the terrorist organizations used what they call 'the war of consciousness' attributing the death of innocent and uninvolved people to the Israeli Air Force pilots. Perhaps the most memorable event is around a missile that fell on a house that had no connection to the terrorist organization or the Israel Defense Forces target map in the operation. The IDF, however, knew that it was a failed rocket launch by Hamas that caused the killing, but it was very difficult for them to prove it until a video shot in the Gaza Strip arrived and showed that the rocket was launched from a launch pit in the Gaza Strip and fell before it even had time to gain momentum.

In a joint press conference by the Israeli Prime Minister and the heads of the security establishment Tuesday evening, the Shin Bet chief Ronan Bar revealed as part of the reason for the attack yesterday that took out three Islamic Jihad leaders in Gaza, that one of their terror cells was working to build & fire rockets from Jenin toward Israeli territory, thereby importing Gaza's terrorist methods into Judea and Samaria. According to Bar, the plans were foiled. "We see this as a dangerous precedent. We have no intention of turning Afula or Shaked [Israeli townships] into a new target," Bar said.

UPDATE: At around 1:45 PM IST, Rockets began to be fired toward Israel from Gaza. Sirens have been sounding as far north as Tel Aviv. This comes as Israel faced an eery calm, waiting for the rockets to begin.
